Sit-Ups
Muscles worked: Abs & Core · Also: Legs & Glutes
To do a sit-up, lie on your back with your knees bent, anchor your feet lightly, and sit all the way up to a vertical torso using your stomach muscles, then lie back down slowly rather than dropping.
Anchor your feet lightly or bend your knees to take pressure off your hip flexors, and avoid yanking your head forward. Sit up smoothly using your stomach muscles, and lie back down slowly rather than dropping — the lowering half counts as much as the lift.
How to do it
- Lie on your back with your knees bent.
- Anchor your feet lightly, and sit all the way up to a vertical torso using your stomach muscles.
- Avoid yanking your head forward as you sit up.
- Lie back down slowly rather than dropping, since the lowering half counts as much as the lift.
