Side Arm Raise
Muscles worked: Shoulders
Side Arm Raise is the lateral raise: standing tall, you lift your arms out to the sides to shoulder height and lower them slowly, working the sides of the shoulders.
Lead with your elbows slightly soft, keep your torso still, and stop at shoulder height — going higher shifts the work elsewhere and can pinch the shoulder. Lower slowly; the lowering half is half the exercise.
How to do it
- Stand tall with your arms down at your sides.
- Lift your arms out to the sides to shoulder height, leading with your elbows slightly soft.
- Stop at shoulder height — going higher shifts the work elsewhere and can pinch the shoulder.
- Lower slowly back to your sides; the lowering half is half the exercise.
- Keep your torso still and your shoulders down away from your ears throughout.
