Butt Bridge
Muscles worked: Legs · Also: Glutes & Hips
Butt Bridge is a floor exercise for the glutes and hamstrings: lying on your back with knees bent, you press through your heels to lift your hips until your body forms a straight line from shoulders to knees.
Squeeze your glutes at the top and keep your ribs down — if your lower back arches, you have lifted too high. Lower slowly and keep your feet flat; the bridge should be felt in your glutes, not your back.
How to do it
- Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor.
- Press through your heels to lift your hips until your body forms a straight line from shoulders to knees.
- Squeeze your glutes at the top and keep your ribs down.
- Lower slowly back to the floor.
- If your lower back arches, you have lifted too high — lower the range so the bridge is felt in your glutes, not your back.
