Side Bridges Right

Muscles worked: Abs & Core · Also: Legs, Back & Core

Side Bridges Right are the right-side version of the side plank: forearm and the side of the right foot on the floor, body in a straight line, held for time.

Press through your forearm, lift your hips high, and keep your chest open rather than rolling forward. Hold only as long as you can keep the line straight — a shorter hold with good form beats a long hold with sagging hips.

How to do it

  1. Lie on your right side and stack your right elbow under your shoulder, forearm on the floor.
  2. Lift your hips until your body forms a straight line from head to feet, supported on your right forearm and the side of your right foot.
  3. Press through your forearm and keep your chest open rather than rolling forward.
  4. Hold only as long as you can keep the line straight — a shorter hold with good form beats a long hold with sagging hips.
  5. If the full hold is too much, drop the lower knee to the floor for support and build up from there.
