Russian Twist
Muscles worked: Abs & Core
Russian Twist is a seated core exercise with a twist: you sit with knees bent and feet light on the floor, then rotate your torso from side to side.
Lean back slightly with a straight back, keep your chest open, and turn from your waist rather than just swinging your arms. If the twist pulls your lower back, keep your feet on the floor and shorten the range — the rotation should come from your core, not your arms.
How to do it
- Sit with your knees bent and your feet light on the floor.
- Lean back slightly with a straight back and your chest open.
- Rotate your torso from side to side, turning from your waist rather than just swinging your arms.
- Keep your feet on the floor and shorten the range if the twist pulls your lower back.
