Diamond Push-Ups
Muscles worked: Chest, Triceps · Also: Shoulders
Diamond Push-Ups narrow the hand position so your thumbs and index fingers form a diamond under your chest. The close grip shifts more work to the triceps and the inner chest.
Keep your elbows close to your body as you lower, and only go as deep as you can while keeping your hips level. These are harder than they look — start with a few careful reps rather than a long sloppy set.
How to do it
- In a plank, place your hands close together under your chest so your thumbs and index fingers form a diamond.
- Lower your chest toward your hands with control, keeping your elbows close to your body.
- Go only as deep as you can while keeping your hips level.
- Press back up to the plank without letting your hips sag.
- Start with a few careful reps — these are harder than they look, and a long sloppy set helps no one.
