Push Up Hold
Muscles worked: Chest · Also: Triceps, Shoulders
Push Up Hold is a static hold at the top or middle of a push-up, training the pressing muscles and the core without movement.
Set a strong plank on your hands, brace your stomach and glutes, and hold the position with steady breathing. If your hips sag or your shoulders creep toward your ears, reset — a shorter hold with a straight line beats a long sagging one.
How to do it
- Set a strong plank on your hands, hands under your shoulders, body straight from head to heels.
- Brace your stomach and glutes and hold the position with steady breathing.
- Hold at the top or middle of the push-up, whichever the version calls for.
- Reset the moment your hips sag or your shoulders creep toward your ears — a shorter hold with a straight line beats a long sagging one.
