Military Push Ups
Muscles worked: Chest, Triceps · Also: Shoulders
Military Push Ups are a strict, close-grip push-up variation: hands close together under the shoulders, elbows tracking back along the body, and a straight line held throughout.
The close hand position and strict form make these harder than regular push-ups even though they look similar. Lower slowly with elbows tucked, press up without flaring, and keep your core braced so your hips never sag.
How to do it
- In a plank, place your hands close together under your shoulders.
- Lower slowly with your elbows tucked back along your body.
- Keep a straight line from head to heels and your core braced so your hips never sag.
- Press up without flaring your elbows.
- The close hand position and strict form make these harder than regular push-ups — keep the reps clean rather than many.
