Diagonal Plank
Muscles worked: Abs & Core, Legs · Also: Legs & Glutes, Glutes & Hips, Back
Diagonal Plank is a plank variation that adds a diagonal reach: from a plank, you extend one arm and the opposite leg, hold briefly, then switch sides.
The plank itself comes first — hips level, core braced — and the reach is secondary. Only extend as far as you can without your hips twisting or dropping, and return to a solid plank between reaches.
How to do it
- Set a plank with your hips level and your core braced — the plank itself comes first.
- Extend one arm and the opposite leg, holding briefly.
- Return to a solid plank, then switch sides.
- Only extend as far as you can without your hips twisting or dropping.
- The reach is secondary — return to a solid plank between reaches.
